About AMY REsuscitation

After years of experience dealing with human breathing and airways, Daniel McCarthy, M.D., knew there was a more efficient way to provide oxygen to CPR recipients. After five years of prototyping and design, AMY Resuscitation was born. This patented technology was designed to provide the most effective life-saving capabilities on the market. The goal for AMY Resuscitation has always been to find better, more efficient ways to save lives.

"Like an AED for Breathing"

Respiratory emergencies can happen anytime and anywhere. Are you prepared?

THE PROBLEM

Effective artificial respiration is critical to survival in respiratory arrest. When the oxygen content of the blood has been depleted to the point that cardiac arrest results, the only treatment that is going to be effective are the immediate restoration of an adequate blood oxygen content. This requires the immediate delivery of a high oxygen concentration to the lungs. While the American Heart Association recommends 100% oxygen for artificial resuscitation, mouth-to-mouth breathing only delivers 16% oxygen, and oxygen concentration is insufficient to maximize the chance for a good outcome.

While bag valve mask systems can provide high concentrations of oxygen they are challenging to use effectively, especially in infants and children, as well as during a crisis. Further, bag valve mask ventilation frequently results in over ventilation which results in further decreases in cardiac output, as well as increased risk of aspiration.

THE SOLUTION

AMY solves this problem and delivers perfect American Heart Association rescue breaths INCLUDING 100% oxygen in a portable simple-to-use system. The American Heart Association, the leading expert in resuscitation, has established the protocols and guidelines that will give the arrest victim the best chance for a good outcome. This includes the parameters of artificial respiration. They have determined the optimum rate, volume, flow, and oxygen concentration that optimizes the opportunity for successful recovery.

AMY’s patented technology incorporates these parameters into a simple-to-use device. AMY doesn’t change American Heart Association CPR, AMY gives the rescuer the ability to perform perfect American Heart Association CPR.

HOW TO USE

AMY will recognize the selected mask and deliver the appropriate rescue breaths.

Perform chest compressions placing hands on the AMY chest pad. When compressing on the AMY chest pad the respiratory cycle is interrupted for the duration of compressions. When compressions stop, AMY automatically resumes artificial respiration until chest compressions resume.

Founder & Chief Medical Officer

Dr. Daniel McCarthy is an anesthesiologist in Tyler, Texas and is affiliated with multiple hospitals in the area, including East Texas Medical Center and Texas Spine & Joint Hospital. He received his medical degree from The University of Texas Medical School Health Science Center at Houston School of Medicine and recieved his anesthesia training at the University of Texas a Health Science Center at San Antonio. Dr. McCarthy has been in practice for 23 years and his  deep and extensive understanding of breathing pathways led him to want to develop a better and easier way to provide CPR.
